Join us, along with members of the Longmeadow Historical Society, for a sunset stroll and Longmeadow History Discussion, as part of our Stroll America series.  If you've always wanted to learn more about our Town, come stroll Longmeadow with us!

This program explores the architecture surrounding the Longmeadow Green. The houses and other buildings around the Green represent a wide range of architectural styles, including Colonial, Federal, Greek Revival, Gothic, Italianate, Queen Anne, and Colonial Revival. The program will examine how these styles evolved, the typical exterior design elements for each one, and how these are represented on buildings here in Longmeadow. It will also consider how these buildings were often modified over the years to reflect changing tastes and styles. By examining these architectural traditions, the program highlights how each generation in Longmeadow’s history has left its own distinctive legacy in the community.
 

We will meet at 6:30 at the Library for a short introduction, then walk to our destinations where Derek Strahan will discuss the evening's topic further in depth.  Below is the route we will take:

• First Church: Colonial/Gothic/Colonial Revival

In case of inclement weather, we will hold this program in the Betty Ann Low Meeting Room at the Storrs Library.
