SUMMARY:Adult Center Book Club
DESCRIPTION:\n\nJoin Storrs Librarians and members of the Adult Center Book
Club on the first Tuesday of every month. Copies of this month's book will
be on hold at Storrs Library.\n\nThis month's selection: The Lion Women of
Tehran by Marjan KAMALI\n\nIn 1950s Tehran\, seven-year-old Ellie lives in
grand comfort until the untimely death of her father\, forcing Ellie and
her mother to move to a tiny home downtown. Lonely and bearing the brunt of
her mother's grievances\, Ellie dreams of a friend to alleviate her
isolation. On the first day of school\, she meets Homa. Together\, the two
girls share their ambitions for becoming 'lion women.’ But their
happiness is disrupted when Ellie and her mother return to their previous
bourgeois life. Years later\, Homa’s sudden reappearance in Ellie's
privileged world alters the course of both of their lives. But as the
political turmoil in Iran builds to a breaking point\, one earth-shattering
betrayal will have enormous consequences.\n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing
you at the Longmeadow Adult Center!\n\n\n\nRegister by calling the Adult
 Center at 413-565-4150.
