Ages of Music History: The Romantic Era
As the Classical Era gradually evolved toward more dramatic and personal musical expression via composers such as Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert, the stage was set for the dominance of Romanticism during most of the Nineteenth Century. In this next chapter of our review of the Ages of Music History, we will talk about and listen to music from a variety of composers who grew to represent the expansion of music across all of Europe. Not limited as in the past to royal courts and the Church, musical performance was well established in public concert halls and stages, presenting widely published music to an eager audience everywhere.
